Waiting on you
An astronaut waits for the moon
Drifting into aimless blue, all the stars come out
I see the world getting smaller
As my eyes turn to water
Green grow all the flowers even through the drought
As I walk out into the night
I feel like I have lost my mind
I wonder how planets align from so far away
And they keep time for everyone
Though violent as we've become
In our hands and on our tongues
Holding out for our decay
I know why the lonely bird sings
And I try to keep up with it
Each time it goes whistling through the night
And then vanishes into flight
Oh, where do you go time and time again?
I fear the end is coming soon
Just as we start to break all the walls we've made
And every year that passed right through is another day
Now there's a light shining in my yard
It's not enough to keep our world from falling apart
I let it fade out, I fade away
Now there's a promise I can't keep
Since you met me at a peak
And this valley's dug so deep that it's hard to see
My own my out of this
I've tied the chain to my own wrist
Once you've cut the picture just to fit
Are the frames still broken?
I know why the lonely bird sings
And I try to keep up with it
Each time it goes whistling through the night
And then vanishes into flight
Oh, where did you go, my friend?
